Interim Privacy Information
Privacy information.
This page describes MAQUINE's current technical and operating approach to website, rights-desk, and professional-correspondence data. A formal privacy notice remains pending qualified legal review. Private manuscripts belong only inside an authenticated Studio book workspace, never in the public inquiry form or ordinary email.
Interim information reviewed August 28, 2026
Information we receive
When you contact MAQUINE or use MAQUINE Studio, we may receive your name, professional email, role, organization, title or catalog details, language and territory information, rights status, project goals, messages, and materials you choose to provide. Studio records can also include verified quotes, agreements, production milestones, payment requests, payment history, files, and delivery history.
Confidential Studio files
Manuscripts, samples, agreements, message attachments, project files, and final deliverables use private storage and owner-scoped or founder-authorized access. Uploads receive server-controlled object paths and remain available only through authenticated access. Original manuscript text must not be placed in notification email, analytics, payment metadata, or routine application logs.
Technical manuscript analysis
A verified manuscript may be processed in an isolated technical workflow to identify file type, word count, page or paragraph structure, document warnings, and other production indicators. These findings support human review and do not constitute automatic translation, editorial acceptance, rights clearance, or a final price. Any future AI processing requires a separate disclosed and approved feature gate.
Technical and security data
Cloudflare processes ordinary request data to deliver and protect this website. If approved inquiry or Journal-comment storage is active, MAQUINE stores only a truncated network prefix with the record for form-abuse prevention; the complete IP address and browser user-agent are not retained in those databases. Hidden anti-spam fields and submission limits are used only on activated intake paths.
Moderated Journal comments
If Journal comments are activated, a submission includes the display name, private moderation email, comment, article identifier, consent confirmation, and a truncated network prefix for abuse prevention. Comments remain pending until reviewed. Only the approved display name, comment, and publication date are public; the moderation email is never displayed. The feature remains off unless its moderation, privacy, data-residency, and database controls are explicitly approved.
Why we use information
Information is used to evaluate and answer inquiries, assess authority and project fit, prepare catalog or partnership discussions, maintain an accountable correspondence record, protect the service from abuse, and take steps requested before a possible agreement. These uses rely on requested pre-contract work and MAQUINE's legitimate interests in operating a secure rights desk.
Service providers and disclosure
Cloudflare delivers and protects the public website. MAQUINE Studio uses Supabase for authentication, database records, and private storage; Stripe for hosted Checkout; and Microsoft Graph for configured authentication email. Access is limited to the approved role and purpose. MAQUINE's operating rule is not to sell personal information or use Studio data for third-party advertising; the formal notice and provider list remain subject to qualified legal review.
International processing
Rights work is international, and service providers or approved project participants may process information outside your country. Before activating intake, MAQUINE must approve the applicable locations, access limits, provider safeguards, and contractual transfer mechanism for the intended jurisdictions.
Retention
Website inquiry records are retained only while reasonably needed to evaluate and answer the inquiry, preserve an accountable correspondence record, protect the service, or meet applicable legal obligations. Studio files and records follow their applicable category rules and legal holds. Contractual, tax, payment, fraud-prevention, dispute, and audit records may require longer retention. A valid deletion request cannot override a legal obligation or active hold.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an explanation of how your information is used. You may also object to certain processing or withdraw consent where consent applies. MAQUINE will verify the request and respond under the applicable privacy law.
Security, children, and updates
The public website uses encrypted transport and security headers. Studio access, storage, payment, backup, recovery, and incident-response boundaries are reviewed separately. No system can guarantee absolute security. The website is intended for publishing professionals and adult rightsholders, not children. Material changes to this interim information will be posted here with a revised date.
