Six stages. No invisible handoffs.
The interface stays simple, while files, quotes, agreements, payment obligations, milestones, and delivery records remain distinct so one successful step cannot silently bypass another.

Create the private book workspace
Name the source work and choose the closest book type, source language, target language, and target market. Creating the project does not upload a manuscript or open Checkout.
Client: Provide only the book and edition direction.
MAQUINE: Create an owner-scoped project record.

Upload the source privately
Add the source file inside the book workspace. Private storage and owner-scoped access keep the manuscript out of public forms and ordinary email.
Client: Upload the correct source-language file.
MAQUINE: Preserve private file identity and access boundaries.

Verify source words and the service category
MAQUINE verifies the source-word count and applies the Standard, Editorial, or Specialist category. Specialist work and projects above 60,000 words require MAQUINE review before Checkout.
Client: Review the verified count and category.
MAQUINE: Use the canonical USD 0.06, USD 0.08, or USD 0.10 rate.

Review the canonical quote and first installment
The server applies the greater of USD 699 or verified source words × the applicable rate. The payment page shows the exact total, 50% due now, and remaining 50% before final release.
Client: Request Checkout only after reviewing the exact amounts.
MAQUINE: Reconcile the initial obligation without double-counting failed or cancelled attempts.

Follow production inside the book record
Milestones, deadlines, files, agreements, deliverables, and private messages remain attached to the book or its optional series context.
Client: Review questions, files, and milestone updates.
MAQUINE: Maintain one accountable operating record.

Settle the balance and receive files
The final 50% remains due before release. Paid history stays immutable while deliverables are released through authenticated, authorized access.
Client: Settle the balance and download securely.
MAQUINE: Release only the contracted deliverables after payment verification.
Release Gates
The workflow refuses to skip the decisions that protect both sides.
Uploads, quotes, agreements, Checkout requests, payment history, and final files each keep a separate operational gate.
No payable quote before the source words and service category are verified.
No cross-owner access to private projects, messages, agreements, or files.
No Checkout amount accepted unless it matches the server-owned quote and installment kind.
No failed, cancelled, or retried payment attempt becomes an extra obligation.
No final-file release before the balance is verified.
No rights representation or publishing role implied by a Studio project.
